The per-key RGB lighting effects can be fully controlled with HyperX’s NGenuity software, and the 5-level adjustable lighting can get very bright, with a lot of diffuse lighting bouncing back against the metal top frame as well. Manufacturers deal with this in different ways, but HyperX chooses to arrange both the primary and secondary functions of many dual-mapped keys on the top edge, for instance with the “1” and “!

The software isn’t great, with an interface that is simultaneously feature-light and over-complicated, but it gets the job done. Multimedia” lets you turn any key into a media key, in case hitting FN+ F11 to turn up the volume mid-game is too much of a hassle.

The plastic casing is made out of ABS plastic, as is the norm these days, and has cutouts to accommodate the various bits and bobs on the keyboard PCB.

While HyperX Flame is one of the more original presets I’ve seen, I still mostly stuck to Wave for its constant, steel-reflected glow. font, easy to understand/read and still gives it a bit of a ‘gamer’ look, although I find Razer’s choice more pleasant I can see why people do like this font. The HyperX Alloy FPS RGB is a fantastic gaming keyboard that's quite similar to the HyperX Alloy Elite 2, though it comes with different switches that have a much shorter pre-travel distance for more responsiveness. It also features a convenient USB charge port and a braided, detachable cable that is resistant to wear and allows for easy portability.

HyperX recently outfitted their award winning Alloy FPS Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with RGB switches and after spending two weeks with it our review is now complete.Well, if you rest your fingers on any key, the actuation force and actuation point are low enough that, just by relaxing your fingers briefly, you might accidentally type “ssssssssssssss” without realizing it, or perhaps you’ll use one too many periods at the end of a sentence. This update adds several new tests addressing Hardware Customization, Macro Keys And Programming, and Wireless Mobile Compatibility.

On the contrary, the FPS Pro is a small, TenKeyLess keyboard designed for those who need the bare minimum. Here you can see some of the available effects and colors you can use with the Alloy FPS RGB (including the one we made with 7 custom lighting zones). Tl;dr – the keyboard is decent, stabilizers are bad and there are better alternatives for less, lots of opportunities missed. The HyperX Alloy FPS RGB™ is a great-looking, high-performance keyboard designed to make sure that both your skills and style are on full display.
